Product use: AAKG is a substance formed from the amino acid L-arginine and alpha-ketoglutaric acid compounds during the energy production process of the human body. AAKG is a popular supplement for bodybuilders and other athletes because it claims to increase the production of nitric oxide on the muscles. Nitric oxide is known to have an enhanced effect on blood flow, which could theoretically increase the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to muscles. While arginine itself is known to increase nitric oxide production, no study has shown that AAKG does. However, double-blind trials showed that AAKG improved some measures of strength from weight training.
